Carara National Park
Vista Azul is located next to the beautiful Carara National Park, which translates to “River of lizards” in the indigenous Huetar language. The park is unique in the Central Pacific region as it contains a transition forest, resulting in a wide variety of plants and animals from both dry and humid forests. Carara National Park is famous worldwide for its diverse bird population, with the Scarlet Macaw (known as Lapa Roja in Spanish – scientific name: Ara macao) being a standout species. However, it is important to note that the Scarlet Macaw is currently endangered, making it the second largest species of the Psittacidae family in Costa Rica.
Tarcoles
Tarcoles is a lovely little fishing town nestled in the Central Pacific area of Costa Rica. Despite its small size, it is teeming with life, captivating fauna, and fascinating wildlife.
